Where stability and safety begin.
Operation HomeStart Housing Program provides homeless and at-risk veterans with safe, fully furnished transitional housing combined with comprehensive supportive services designed to create a pathway toward long-term housing stability and self-sufficiency. Participants typically remain in the program for six to twelve months while working closely with case managers to develop individualized housing stabilization plans. During their stay, veterans receive essential resources including furnished housing, emergency food assistance, public transportation support through transit cards, financial literacy and budgeting education, savings planning, life-skills coaching, advocacy, and connections to healthcare, employment, and community resources. At the conclusion of the program, veterans have the opportunity to assume their existing lease when financially prepared or transition into another permanent housing option that best meets their needs.
Since enrolling its first participants in Louisiana in 2020, J B Housing Group has steadily expanded its impact by providing veterans with the support necessary to overcome the barriers that contribute to homelessness. The organization initially enrolled 20 veterans into its housing program, establishing a strong foundation built on personalized case management, accountability, and community partnerships. In 2026, J B Housing Group expanded its services into Houston, Texas, broadening its reach while introducing two integrated supportive service initiatives—Operation Workforce and Operation Wellness and Recovery. These complementary programs address the critical needs of employment readiness, career development, mental health services, substance use recovery support, and overall wellness, recognizing that stable housing alone is not sufficient to achieve lasting independence.
Operation HomeStart Housing Program is intentionally structured to move participants beyond temporary shelter by addressing the underlying challenges that often lead to housing instability. Through coordinated case management, individualized goal setting, workforce development opportunities, financial empowerment, and access to behavioral health services, veterans build the skills and confidence necessary to maintain permanent housing and improve their overall quality of life. J B Housing Group's holistic approach emphasizes personal responsibility, resilience, and long-term success, ensuring that veterans not only secure stable housing but also develop the resources, support systems, and independence needed to thrive within their communities.
